Straight out of the Box
The Amazon Fire TV Stick comes in a pretty small box but then again it is a small device. Straight out of the box, the Amazon Fire TV Stick is ready to be connected to your TV. Simply plug it in via HDMI and then plug it into an outlet and let it start up. Amazon throws in an HDMI extender as well for TVs with small, compact ports that the Fire TV Stick cannot fit in. The startup only took a few minutes and then it walks through the configuration.
The setup was pretty easy. I think it took longer for me to actually type in the information needed than the actually setup process. The Amazon Fire TV Stick will ask some basic questions such as your preferred language, WiFi networks, and your Amazon account. After all that is finished, you’re presented with a short animation on using your Amazon Fire TV Stick which you can either watch or just skip.
There are ton’s of features the Amazon Fire TV Stick comes with but most people use this for a few specific apps. Imagine the Amazon Fire TV Stick a smart phone for your TV. You download your favorite apps and then you go from there. Similarly, you download these apps on the Fire TV Stick and follow the directions with the apps.
Many people download Netflix as their first download. Depending on your internet speed, it shouldn’t take to long to for the download to complete. Once downloaded, open up the app, login, and enjoy. Many apps are very similar like this so you may have to have a subscription with them in order to use app. Some apps like the CW app allows you to stream shows without a subscription. Other apps like HBO and Starz requires a subscription which you can check out their rates online.
Amazon Prime Members
If you’re an Amazon Prime Member then the Fire TV Stick will give you full access to all your Amazon Prime Perks. Those thousands of movies and TV episodes you saw when you signed up for Amazon Prime can be streamed directly from the Fire TV Stick. Thursday Night Football and Prime Music can also be used on the Fire Stick so you can watch or listen from your home system.
Other Subscription Services
Most popular subscription services like Hulu, YouTube Red, and Spotify are accessible through the Amazon Fire Stick. If you don’t Amazon Prime, no problem at all! To be honest, I rarely use the Amazon Prime features on my Fire Stick since I have a Netflix and Hulu Subscription. DirectTV Now can also be accessed on the Fire Stick giving you live TV and sports from AMC, HGTV, ESPN, Fox and dozens more channels.
Cracked Amazon Fire TV Stick
First off, let me say this is not something I recommend to many people but this is one of the biggest reasons many people do get the Amazon Fire TV Stick. If you don’t know, you’re able to easily crack an Amazon Fire TV Stick or buy one but you’ll access to millions of movies and shows for free. I personally don’t recommend doing this because it does slow down your Amazon Fire Stick and well it’s the 2018 version of piracy.
If you do decide to take this route, there are tons of addons you can get to stream old and new movies as well as TV shows. Many people buy the Fire TV Stick simply to do this but like I said, I don’t recommend doing this. In my experience, your Fire TV Stick slows down and in addition to that, the addons do get outdated after a few months so you’ll have to find a new addon and reinstall that one as well as taking out the old.
If you’re wanting an affordable upgrade for your TV then the Amazon Fire TV Stick is the way to go. Fast and reliable, the Amazon Fire TV Stick gives you access to all your favorite subscriptions as well as many free apps you can use to stream TV shows and movies directly to your TV.
The latest Fire Stick comes with Alexa now so you can simply tell Alexa what you want to watch or listen to and Alexa will do just that. “Hey Alexa, show me some funny videos on YouTube” or “Hey Alexa, play me a random TV show on Hulu.”
At $40, you really cannot go wrong with the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Gives you loads of features and Amazon continues to send updates to bring even more.
Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is faster and less expensive than ever, and comes with an Alexa-enabled voice remote out of the box, making it the best budget-friendly media streamer you can buy.
