Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2017
The best tablet on the market
What we like about the iPad Pro?
We put the iPad Pro through a series of testing. We found that iPad Pro was capable of handling many professional work from daily task of a college student to professional photographers. Can an iPad Pro completely replace a computer? Well lets take a look at how it handled day to day.
The iPad Pro is an ultimate must have for a college student. Paired with the Apple Pencil and Apple Smart keyboard. The iPad Pro handled taking notes, downloading and annotating PDFs and ebook, it handled recording lecture, writing essays, even conducting research in a organic chemistry lab setting. The iPad Pro was able to accomplish all that without any lag or crash.
Now this will be a mixed review for the iPad Pro. We allowed two professional photographers to test out the iPad for their daily use. We asked them can an iPad Pro replace a computer? One said yes and the other said no. Our first photographer used his iPad to edit some shots he took of his model. He found the iPad Pro paired wonderfully with the Apple Pencil, had no problem editing the pictures and exporting them to his portfolio. He said he would have no problem with using an iPad Pro as a daily computer replacement. Our second photographer used the iPad to edit 800 pictures she took for a wedding. Although she loved the iPad Pro for editing a few pictures, she felt it wasn’t fast enough to handle a bunch of picture editing. She feels if there was an app that will allow her to work on more than one photo at a time, she would be more comfortable with using an iPad Pro as a computer replacement. Both photographers were using the Affinity Photos app to edit their shots.
Can an iPad Pro replace a computer for a music producer? We put it up to a test with using Auria Pro, a DAW app for the iPad Pro. It is definitely possible to produce songs using the iPad Pro, but it is not our preferred way. When producing music, we prefer to have multiple windows open at a time with multiple tabs. The iPad Pro is capable of running three windows at a time but it was challenging to surf the web, download some instruments, transfer them over to Auria Pro, and edit them within the app. When producing our track using a microphone and live instruments, we found it pretty easy as we only had to stay in the Auria Pro app. The iPad Pro handled the multitasking very well but our preferred way is still using a computer with a keyboard a mouse.
Can the iPad Pro replace your Computer?
Depends how you’ll be using it. If you’re using it for gaming such as Counter Strike, Garry’s Mod, Fortnite, etc. I’d definitely say no. If you’re using it for school or minor business management, then yes. Heck, I wrote this whole article on the iPad Pro. The Pro is capable of doing many features that your computer can do but the question is if you’ll be comfortable doing it on a tablet.
Our Final Thoughts
The iPad Pro is powerful enough to do many things. It’s not like before when the first iPad was released, it was just a bigger itouch. Now it is something that can replace your computer but only if you know how to fully use your iPad Pro. Below is more information about the iPad.
